Local Government Pay and Conditions

Details of pay deal to 2006

1. Agreement has been reached in negotiations on revised pay figures for local government employees (formerly APT & C and Manual Workers) covering the period 2004-2006 and details of the pay increase and increases in allowances are set out in Appendices 1 to 3.

2. The pay increases are shown as revisions to the current spinal column for former APT & C employees and the current weekly rate of pay for former Manual Workers Grades 1 to 8 and Forepersons. The weekly rate of pay for Manual Workers Grades 1 to 8 has been calculated by dividing spinal column points 3-10 respectively of the APT & C spinal column by 52.14.

3. Please note that pay figures with effect from 1 April 2004 and 1 April 2005 have been rounded to the nearest £3.

SPINAL COLUMN OF HOURLY RATES

1. Paragraph 1.3 of Part 3 of the Scheme of Pay and Conditions of Service for Local Government Employees states that a new spinal column of hourly rates will be agreed to which employees will be assimilated following completion of the job evaluation exercise. Agreement has now been reached to increase the 2003 spinal column rates by 2.95% from 1 April 2004 and 1 April 2005 respectively and details are attached in the appendix to this circular.
