I write on behalf of our 9,000 members in the City of Edinburgh Branch of UNISON to send our solidarity and our deepest sympathy at the news of the death of Ewan Williamson in the line of duty on 12 July 2009.

It is a tragic reminder of the daily risks faced by your members delivering this essential public service.

As fellow trade unionists, fellow public service workers and citizens of Edinburgh, we appreciate the dangerous job FBU members do for us and we share your grief.

Our thoughts are with FBU comrades at this time and with Mr Williamson's family and friends. Please contact us if there is anything we can do.
