Jobs, Justice, Climate: G20 St Andrews
On 7 November, the banner was in St Andrews
for a meeting of the G20 Finance Ministers
discussing the economic crisis. The Branch
joined the people of Scotland and the
wider UK urging the Ministers to stand
up for billions: "the world cannot
go back to business as usual. We must
put people first by delivering on jobs,
justice and climate".
Progress was made with commitments by
Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling for
a transaction tax to regulate the kind
of financial speculation which has caused
global crisis.
